Year 10 students - cover work

Due to being on a course I would like you to complete the following work in your lesson on Suanday ahead of Tuesdays lesson.

I want you to hand in your books during Tuesdays practical lesson.

  • Books are still not up to date.  Some have loose sheets in, some do not have both yours and your partners newspaper article pieces of work in.  Get your book up to date, including sticking in the newspaper articles.

  • You need to link in priority groups to specific initiatives.  At the moment you have looked at initiatives but not linked into the specific groups that Edexcel want you to consider.
The priority groups are:
  • Disabled
  • Teenagers
  • Elderly
  • Shift workers
  • Mums & Toddlers
  • Unemployed
  • Using the following links - YST programmesSport England (for this link go to the bottom of the page, click on 'SPort England at a glance' which is next to the orange + and use the programmes under the sub title 'our programmes', list starts with 'The Sport England Small Grants Programme')
  • I want you to attribute each programme to the relevant priority groups (from the list above) you believe it is aimed at assisting.  Draw a table, give the programme in the first column and the target groups in the second column.
  • Then for each of the priority groups, design an initiaive for each of the groups that you could run using the facilities available at DC.  E.g. a mums and toddlers swimming group.
  • Elaborate on the initiative with regards the facilities required, cost (if any), time it would take place (work it around the school requirements) and the benefits it would bring to the individuals in that priority group.
  • Finally, create four exam questions on the topics of, key influences, participation pyramid, initiatives to get and keep people involved in sport.  After you have made the questions put together a mark scheme - these are to be typed up, printed out and brought to our next theory lesson.  The other work is to be handed in on Tuesday.
